Meet Our Hygienists

Suzie Benfield, RDH

Dental Hygienist

While growing up on Marco Island, Suzie Benfield began her career in dentistry in 1974 as a dental assistant. She graduated in 1977 from Palm Beach State College with a degree in dental hygiene. Suzie is a past president of the Collier County Dental Hygiene Association, past president of the Alaska Dental Hygienists’ Association and served 5 years on the advisory board for the dental hygiene program at Anchorage Community College.

She has advanced education in periodontal therapy from University of Florida and continues to attend countless hours of continuing education each year. She holds certification by the state of Florida to administer local anesthetic to dental patients. Suzie strives to help her patients obtain and maintain optimal dental health in the most gentle and caring manner.

She has been married since 1983 to Mike (Ben) Benfield and they have two grown sons. The oldest is married, has a little girl born Oct 2016 and lives in Nashville, Tennessee. Their younger son lives in Macon, Georgia and plans to marry in November 2017. She feels very blessed to be a part of this practice since 1995.

Karen Scott, RDH

Dental Hygienist

Karen grew up in North Dakota, where she attended North Dakota State University in Fargo, and earned a Bachelors degree in Speech Pathology. After graduation, she worked as a speech pathologist in public schools in Washington state and California for a few years. Then as a newly wed, Karen and her husband moved to Alaska. It was there she became interested in pursuing a career in dentistry and subsequently graduated from the dental hygiene program at the University of Alaska Anchorage as a board certified Registered Dental Hygienist.

Karen practiced dental hygiene in Anchorage until she and her family moved to southwest Florida. In the Naples area, Karen has enjoyed working in periodontal, family, and aesthetic dental practices. She is always expanding her skills and deepening her knowledge of dental health through many hours of course work through the University of Florida, Nova Southeastern University, as well as other continuing education courses.

Karen has been associated with the practice since 1997 and strives to continue providing quality care for our patients for many.
