Your First Appointment
At Island Coast Dentistry, Dr. Skupny and our team of dental experts are always happy to accept new smiles into our patient family. If you’re ready to experience truly world-class dentistry with a personal touch, then we invite you to come see us! Below, you can learn everything you need to know before scheduling your first appointment. Be sure to give us a call if you have any other questions. We look forward to meeting you and your smile soon!
Your First Visit
We kindly ask that you arrive 15-20 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. This allows time for you to complete the necessary new patient forms. Keep in mind our dental office will email new patient forms to you directly if you call to schedule your first visit.
Please also bring a photo ID, insurance card if applicable, and a list of any current medications. If you have current X-rays from a previous dentist, we also ask that you request a copy to be mailed or emailed to our dental office.
After being escorted to the back, you’ll get to meet Dr. Skupny and his assistant. Our team loves getting to know our patients a bit before beginning the initial appointment. Following this, they will review your health and dental history and explain what will happen over the course of your initial visit. This includes taking any necessary photographs, X-rays, and conducting a comprehensive exam. If any additional treatment is needed, they will also draft a treatment plan and review the information with you.
One reason for the comprehensive exam is that it allows Dr. Skupny to determine the health of your gums and supporting bone. Based upon his findings, he will recommend a specific type of dental cleaning with one of our hygienists.
